Welcome to SST Lighting!
———————————THE FUTURE OF LED LIGHTING———————————
While many people still think of LED lighting as a new technology, SST has been working on it for over 20 years. Founded in 1996 as an LED chip manufacturer, SST originally used Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) technology in its LED chip fabrication process. The LED chips produced were then sold to various LED packaging assembly companies. It did not take long for SST to realize that most LED products on the market fell far short of reaching their full potential. Armed with expertise in LED chip manufacturing, SST soon began designing and manufacturing its own LED lighting products.
SST holds patents for its Application-Specific LED (AS-LED) modules, its interchangeable LED penlights, and its new generation LED can lights, pendants and wall sconces (SR25 and SR50 series).
LED technology is far more efficient than incandescent, halogen or fluorescent bulb lighting methods. However, it is important to realize that not all LED products are designed to work the same way.
Conventional LED products use LED packages made by mounting chips on a Metal Core Printed Circuit Board (MC-PCB) and covering them with a plastic lens.
In contrast, SST’s AS-LED module design mounts chips directly onto an aluminum housing (that acts as a heat sink) and uses a glass lens. SST’s AS-LED modules are easily replaceable and are used in SST’s highly durable LED fixtures to provide unparalleled heat dissipation, lighting efficiency, and operating lifetime.
Conventional LED Down Lights require a bulky traditional can light recessed housing for installation. However, SST’s patented new generation SR50 Can Lights (Can housing + LED Down Light Lamp) are UL Type IC certified and may be mounted in any building material without the use of a bulky traditional can recessed housing. The SR50 Can lights are 2″ in diameter and may be used in place of a transitional can light (usually more than 10 times larger) with 60W incandescent or halogen light bulb. The 2″ SR50 “Eyeball” Can light even has the integrated ability to rotate. All of SST’s fixtures may be installed outdoors (if specified to be UL wet-listed).
Conventional LED fixture designs place their LED modules and power supply inside of the light fixture (or recessed can housing). This traps in heat which significantly shortens the life of the LED modules and power supply. When the power supply or LED modules eventually fail the entire fixture must be replaced because there is no way to repair the damaged components. In contrast, SST’s power supplies are separate from the fixtures they service, and they are easy to install at any convenient location (often far away from the fixture).
The Future of LED Lighting, SST’s LED design is far superior to that of retrofit LED lights, LED bulbs, and recessed LED lights currently on the market!
KEY FEATURES OF SST’S LED FIXTURES
PATENTED AS-LED DESIGN
SST’s patented, Application-Specific LED (AS-LED) modules were designed to maximize LED lighting efficiency. Heat dissipation is optimized by mounting LED chips directly onto an aluminum heat sink, and glass lenses are used to protect the chips and maximize light output. The modules are also easily replaceable!
